These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Star Avatars (the "Service"), operated at https://staravatars.onfizz.dev. By requesting avatar images from the Service, you agree to these Terms.

The Service

Star Avatars generates deterministic space-themed avatar images from a seed string and optional query parameters. The same seed and options always produce the same image. The Service is provided free of charge. There is no paid tier, subscription, or pricing page at this time. We may introduce limits, pricing, or other changes in the future with reasonable notice where practical.

Hotlinking and embedding

Hotlinking is explicitly permitted and is the intended way to use the Service. You may embed avatar URLs directly in HTML, CSS, email templates, mobile apps, and admin panels (for example Filament, Nova, or custom dashboards) using standard image tags or equivalent:

If you embed the Service in an application that loads avatars on every page view, confirm that your traffic stays within the rate limits described below and that browser or CDN caching is sufficient for your use case. That integration decision is yours — we provide these Terms so you can verify hotlinking is allowed before relying on the Service in production.

Rate limits and availability

Avatar requests are rate limited to 120 requests per minute per IP address by default. Exceeding this limit returns HTTP 429. Limits may change without notice. Responses include cache headers designed for long-lived browser and CDN caching; you are encouraged to rely on those caches rather than re-requesting identical URLs repeatedly.

The Service is offered "as is" without uptime guarantees, service-level agreements, or warranties of any kind. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service at any time.

Acceptable use

Your use of the Service must comply with our Acceptable Use Policy. We may block IPs or otherwise restrict access for violations.

Intellectual property

Generated avatar images are provided for your use in accordance with these Terms. We do not claim ownership of your seed strings or the applications that embed our URLs. The Service software, branding, and documentation remain our property.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, data, or goodwill arising from your use of the Service.

Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
